God's finest for His finest

The love of God can never be adequately described as it is too deep and so vast. The rich mercy and favour of God are incomparable and they are for His Incomparable people. Pastor Paul Dawson in this message reiterates this theme encouraging his viewers to meditate on this great love and rich mercy freely showered upon us.

Ephesians 2:4 says, “But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us,” drawing our attention to God who is rich. He is rich in everything but here the Word says that He is rich in mercy. Mercy is the ability to see God’s favour in your life.

Do you remember blind Bartimaeus’s cry to Jesus? He did not cry out to be able to see, his cry as recorded in the Word was – “Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.” What he received from God was a miracle. The Lord Jesus extended the favour of God to meet him at his point of need. Verily I tell you, you are the most fortunate man or woman on this earth if God has decided to show you His mercy. Oh, His love for His people is great. It is vital that we have a clear revelation of both His rich mercy and His great love towards us.

In Psalm 81:16 we read, “He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.” This is God’s desire for us. He longs to feed and satisfy us. Notice He mentions feeding us with not just any wheat but the very finest. The very best or the most superior quality of wheat is what He chooses to feed us with and He longs to satisfy us with wild honey, the most natural form there is. How amazing are His plans for us His people!

We see His plans further detailed out in Deuteronomy 32:13 – “He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;” Here we understand that He wants us to ride on the high places, soaring high. He also yearns to give us oil out of the hard rocks. God’s plans for us are for us to experience the very best there possibly could be. Let us never forget that whether we look to the right or to the left, wherever we turn, God is thinking of us. He knows what, when and how to give us the very best.

This is the same God of whom in Romans 8:32, Scripture records, “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” He showed us His great love by sacrificing His Son, His very best for you and me. If you are wondering today who will supply your need, this should be a reminder - He shall. Not only does He desire to supply your need but also He does it feely. How marvellous are the plans of God!

Despite His rich mercy and great love for us, there are times when people don’t receive all of this. Have you wondered why? Psalm 81:11-12 says, “But My people would not hearken to My voice; and Israel would none of Me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels.” The problem clearly is that although God desires to give the very best, the people whom He chose for Himself, refused to accept it. They probably did not understand Him. They did not accept what He gave but instead selected something inferior. The heart of God is so evident in the subsequent verse, “Oh that My people had hearkened unto Me, and Israel had walked in My ways!” (Psalm 81:13)

This is the same reason many are sick today and some even awaiting death. They have not understood His great love. They wonder why God has not answered their prayers and healed them. Sadly, they do not understand how rich in mercy our God is. He does not want anyone to suffer or be sick. His desire is to give you all things feely. In Psalm 115:14 we read, “The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.” He yearns to do this in all our lives.

The Kingdom ways must manifest in our lives. We must be enlightened to see and understand the privileges He so freely longs to shower upon us. The norm is that believers walk in miracles. This is not an exception, it is the norm. Believers and miracles cannot be separated. This is because our God is rich in mercy and His love is great towards us His chosen people.
